St. Thomas Aquinas (Florida) routs previously unbeaten Treasure Coast
FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA – Looking to build on a 4-0 start and get a marque win on its resume, Treasure Coast traveled to St. Thomas Aquinas, Friday night, to take on the undefeated and perennial state champion Raiders.
Things did not turn out well, however, for the Titans as Aquinas played its most complete game of the season and waltzed to a 42-6 victory. In fact, Aquinas was so dominant defensively it did not allow Treasure Coast to score until the game’s finally 20 seconds, well after the Raiders’ had departed and the running clock got rolling.
St. Thomas Aquinas rolled out to a 17-0 first quarter lead on a Nicholas Romero 25-yard field goal, a 5-yard TD toss from James Madison to Derrick Baker and a 21-yard touchdown run by Justin Montgomery. The Raiders added another field goal from Romero in the second quarter before a pair of weather delays, but grew their lead to 35-0 at the half on a 30-yard touchdown pass from Andrew Indorf to Chance Robinson and a 1-yard TD run by Stacy Gage.
Indorf’s second touchdown pass of the night, a 20-yard throw to Dawson Quarterman made it 42-0 in the third quarter. Demari Scott’s 8-yard touchdown run, with 20-seconds left, allowed the Titans avoid the shutout.
