Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Connecticut High School Athlete of the Week for Jan. 1-Jan. 6 as nominated by fans, readers and SBLive’s staff. Read through the nominees and cast your vote at the bottom of the page. Voting will conclude on Sunday, January 14th at 11:59 p.m. and the winner will be announced in next week's poll.

Here are the nominations: 

Shane Weber, Boys Basketball, Brookfield: Weber led the way for Brookfield in its 58-27 win over Joel Barlow, scoring a team-high 28 points on 12-of-24 shooting, also collecting seven rebounds. 

Khani Glenn, Boys Basketball, Crosby: Needing to come up big in a key matchup against Seymour, Glenn stepped into the spotlight. Glenn scored a team-high 20 points and grabbed six rebounds in a 75-66 victory. 

Madden Cupe, Boys Basketball, Weaver: The senior had himself a big night in Weaver's 88-58 victory over Classical Magnet. Cupe led the team with 30 points, hitting five 3-pointers and dishing out four assists, three rebounds and three steals. 

Savahn Warren, Boys Basketball, New London: Warren filled up the stat sheet in New London's 71-58 victory over Norwich Free Academy. The junior tallied a double-double with 16 points, 11 rebounds and added four assists, four steals, two blocks. 

Bela Cucuta, Girls Basketball, Newington: The junior was on fire in Newington's 47-34 win over Glastonbury last week. Cucuta scored a game-high 24 points on 10-of-22 shooting and grabbed five rebounds. 

Hannah Blanchard, Girls Basketball, Southington: Blanchard has played well all season long at small and power forward for Southington. Last week in Blue Knights' 72-50 victory over New Britain, scoring 21 points and grabbing six boards. 

Faith Doyle, Girls Basketball, Foran: The junior guard kept up her torrid play when she led the Lions to a 64-41 win over the Hand Tigers. Doyle scored a team-high 20 points and added six steals, five assists. 

Brayden Robie, Ice Hockey, New Canaan: It was all New Canaan in a 8-1 victory over Greenwich, with Robie having a big hand in the win. The junior scored a goal and had three assists. 

Bryan Hong, Ice Hockey, Hamden Hall Country Day: Making sure Hamden Hall Country Day could hang on to a 4-3 win over King School, Hong came up big at the net. The junior goalkeeper notched 35 saves in the win. 

Nick Oliveri, Ice Hockey, Wilton: Oliveri, a junior forward, pulled off one of the tougher feats in high school sports and that's something beyond a hat trick. The junior scored four goals in a 6-3 win over Staples.
