We are just past the mid-point part of the 2023 high school football season here in Connecticut and there’s no shortage of underclassmen performing at a high level. 

It’s no surprise that sophomore are showing out in Constitution State as that’s been the case in the past many times over. This list of underclassmen features some of the top sophomore football players we’ve seen or have been on the rise in Connecticut. Take a look at our list and vote for who you feel has been the top performing sophomore high school football player in Connecticut.

Here are the nominations: 

AJ Robinson, QB, Windsor: Robinson has shown he's been one of the top sophomore passers all season long, with the quarterback completing 57-of-99 passes for 933 yards, 16 touchdowns and just a mere two interceptions. 

Vincent Burbank, QB, Northwest Catholic: Burbank has played well under center for Northwest Catholic, completing 47-of-81 passes for 703 yards and seven touchdowns. 

Aaron Ladr, QB, Ellington: The Knights' quarterback has been efficient and taken care of the football, with only one interception this season. Ladr has thrown for 519 yards and seven touchdowns. 

Brady Rossacci, RB, Sheehan: Far and away the state's leader in rushing when it comes to sophomores is Rossacci. The running back has carried the ball 143 times for 1,083 yards and scored 12 touchdowns. 

AJ Sigel, QB, North Branford: Though Sigel doesn't have quite the numbers Rossacci has on the ground, he's been pretty solid himself as a running quarterback. Averaging over 90 yards per game, Sigel has rushed for 467 yards and six touchdowns. 

Isaiah Tripp, WR, East Hartford: Tripp has been one of the top most sure-handed wide receivers in the state, racking up 16 catches for 286 yards and five touchdowns. 

Ryan Lavender, LB, Berlin: Leading the sophomore class in the tackling department is Lavender, who has made 71 tackles, seven for a loss and two sacks. 

Kalib Shaw, LB, Crosby: Another linebacker that's played pretty well this season is Shaw, as the freshman has tallied 61 tackles, 6.5 have gone for a loss and 2.5 sacks.
