National Signing Day live updates: Tracking California's top 50 high school football prospects

National champion Mater Dei, CIF Division I champion Mission Viejo expected to have multiple players sign; Fremont-Oakland duo Naki Tuakoi, Sefo Akuila to BYU

National Signing Day for football used to be a true happening for high school and college fans. Now, it's more of an afterthought.

With the addition of the early signing period in 2017 and the recent NIL and the college football portal, a strong majority of top recruits sign early, leaving the regular signing period largely bare.

That said, there's still many top California players who have yet to sign. Here's a list of those top 50 players — committed and otherwise — expected to sign Wednesday and where. At least five players from state and national champion Mater Dei will sign Wednesday.

26. CB Isaiah Rubin, Los Alamitos, USC √

The 6-1, 170-pound stadnout is committed to the Trojans and visited there on Dec. 8.

31. DL Ratumana Bulabalavu, Army-Navy Academy, USC √

A rugby and track and field standout, Bulabalavu committed to USC on Tuesday after dropping his early signing to Washington. The 6-4, 260-pounder was allowed out of his previously binding signing by NCAA rule due to Washington's coaching change.

50. S Rahim Wright, Rancho Cucamonga, Washington √

Like Balabalavu, Wright had signed early, he with Arizona, but was allowed out of the contract due to coaching change which made sense. He followed former Arizona coach Dan Quinn, who is now the new coach at Washington. He committed to the Huskies on Jan. 29 and signed today.

56. DE Naki Tuakoi, Fremont-Oakland, BYU √

The 6-4, 222-pound edge rusher decommitted to Stanford on Oct. 23, about four months after committing to the Cardinal. After considering options from Cal, Arizona State and Cal, Tuakoi picked BYU.

73. OT Joshua Glanz, Eastlake, undecided

The 6-6, 290-pound 3-star committed to UCLA a year ago, but decommitted on Dec. 2. He has offers from BYU, Arizona, Arizona State and Cal among his 12 overall.

74. ATH Issaiah Blades, Muir, undecided

Arizona appears the only offer and option for the 6-1, 175-pound defensive back and receiver.

82. ATH Sefo Akuila, Fremont, BYU √

A teammate of Tuakoi, the 6-3, 227-pounder committed to Arizona on Sept. 6 but with the new coaching staff from San Jose State, his signing was up in the air until joining Tuakoi at BYU.

85. ATH Terrell Cooks Jr., Sierra Canyon, undecided

A 5-9, 175-pound running back, receiver and defensive back originally committed to San Diego State in April, but decommitted in October. He rushed for 1,722 yards and 13 touchdowns in two seasons at Sierra Canyon, and added 45 catches for 485 yards.

97. DL Zeus Venegas, Mater Dei, undecided

A 6-4, 255-pounder, Venegas has eight offers including Arizona, Colorado, Colorado State, Fresno State and UNLV.

100. OT Justin Hylkema, Wilcox, Washington √

The towering 6-8, 315 pound tackle signed with Arizona on Dec. 20, but was relieved of letter of intent due to the coaching change. Hylkema announced Jan. 29 that he'll follow Quinn to Washington.
