CIF-LA City Section boys basketball playoff brackets, pairings: Cleveland is top Open Division seed

Playoff win Friday over Chatsworth vaults Cavaliers to the top seed of the top division; Five other divisions revealed as well

The California Interscholastic Federation's Los Angeles City boys basketball brackets have been revealed. 

Cleveland (17-9) earned the top seed of the much-anticipated Open Division following a 74-69 win over Chatsworth on Friday night. Chatsworth (15-13), the No. 1 team in the SBLive computer rankings late last week, dropped to the fifth seed. 

The Cavaliers started the season 1-5 and 2-6, but went 15-3 the rest of the way, including a big 63-52 win Wednesday over Birmingham before Friday's win over Chatsworth.

Any one of the eight seeds could legitimately could win the bracket. 

The remaining eight teams are No. 2 King/Drew, No. 3 Birmingham, No. 4 Westchester, No. 5 Chatsworth, No. 6 Grant, No. 7 Palisades and No. 8 Los Angeles CES.

Other top seeds are George Washington Prep (D1), Garfield (D2), Jordan (D3), Bernstein (D4) and New Designs University Park (D5).  

Defending champions are Taft (Open), Grant (D1), Eagle Rock (D2), Garfield (D3), Sotomayor (D4), Port of Los Angeles (D5).

Here are brackets from all six divisions with first-round play in Division I-V starting Wednesday. Open Division begins on Friday.
