Los Angeles City Section boys basketball computer rankings: Chatsworth is No. 1 (2/01/2024)

Four straight wins vaults the Chancellors to the top spot in SBLive's updated Los Angeles City Section computer rankings

The Los Angeles City Section of the California Interscholastic Federation is very crowded at the top.

For boys basketball supremacy that is. In 2023-24.

Following four straight wins, including big ones of Birmingham (70-68), El Camino Real (74-62) and Taft (77-54), Chatsworth is No. 1 after games played on Feb. 1.

Other teams right in the mix are Cleveland, Birmingham, King/Drew, Westchester and Grant.

SBLive's computer rankings formula was created using its own linear algebra-based ranking algorithm inspired by the Colley Bias-Free Ranking Method. Colley’s Method was created by Wes Colley, Ph.D., an astrophysicist at the University of Alabama at Huntsville. He devised his algorithm in order to help address the subjectivity and controversy regarding BCS college football selections in the 1990s and early 2000s, using a method that used no subjective variables.

Here are orther California Interscholastic Federation computer rankings after games completed Feb. 1.
