Winners of eight straight West Catholic Athletic League games, Riordan (16-4) has moved into the top spot in SBLive's updated Central Coast Section high school boys basketball computer rankings

The Crusaders, with at least eight players who have been offered Division 1 basketball scholarships, including 6-foot-8 senior Zion Sensley (St. Mary's College signee) and Jordy McKenzie (Eastern Washington), not only have those WCAL wins but have beaten a couple Western U.S. powers in Bishop Gorman-Las Vegas (82-81) and Corona Centennial (69-58).

The next six teams are also WCAL teams, including No. 2 St. Ignatius (16-5), No. 3 Serra (14-6) and No. 4 Mitty (16-5).

SBLive's computer rankings formula was created using its own linear algebra-based ranking algorithm inspired by the Colley Bias-Free Ranking Method. Colley’s Method was created by Wes Colley, Ph.D., an astrophysicist at the University of Alabama at Huntsville. He devised his algorithm in order to help address the subjectivity and controversy regarding BCS college football selections in the 1990s and early 2000s, using a method that used no subjective variables.

Here are orther California Interscholastic Federation computer rankings from games completed Feb. 1.
