Mission League boys basketball: Stat leaders as of Jan. 5, 2024

The Mission League's opening night is Friday, Jan. 5.

It's in the conversation for one of the toughest high school boys basketball leagues in the country, and certainly is the toughest league in California the last few seasons.

Harvard-Westlake (15-1) is the defending CIF State Open Division champion; Notre Dame (15-0) is the defending Division I state champion; and Sierra Canyon (15-1) is the only Southern Section program remaining that's earned a berth to the Open Division playoffs since its creation in 2014-15. 

Chaminade (16-4) won the Southern Section Division 1 title in 2021. St. Francis (14-4) won a CIF State Regional title in 2020. Crespi (17-2), Loyola (12-6) and Alemany (9-6) are all programs nobody wants to play in the postseason.

NOTE: There is just one round of games before a year-end tournament to decide the league champion and league placement for the postseason.

Top four finishers earn an automatic qualification to the playoffs in their respective division.

The year-end tournament will not be played at a neutral site. All top seeds will host. However, the host team in the tournament final has to option to play the game at a neutral site.
