Early National Signing Day in California: Top 20 uncommitted high school football players

Armijo four-star defensive lineman Jericho Johnson is among the top players yet to commit heading into Wednesday first day to sign on dotted line

Times and rules are much different over the last decade in the college recruiting front.

High school prospects in 2010 waited until well past January, into the middle of February to decide on what college program to select.

But with the advent of NIL deals and the portal, creating a Wild West approach, plus the new early signing period in December, top-end prep talent is encouraged to commit and sign on the dotted line sooner rather than later.

That is evident in California's top 100 prospects, evaluated by 247sports. Only 11 have yet to commit and roughly 90 percent of those lads will likely signed letters of intent during the early signing period, which begins Wednesday (Dec. 20) and lasts until Friday (Dec. 22).

Uncommitted Sierra Canyon running back and receiver Terrell Cooks Jr. accounted for nearly 1,000 yards and 11 touchdowns for California's No. 4 team.
