Central Valley Christian holds off Los Gatos: Live updates, timeline from California CIF State 2-A football Championship
PASADENA, Calif. - The 2023 California high school football season came and went.
And its last game was a fun one.
In the final game of five this weekend at Pasadena, Central Section Division 2 champion Central Valley Christian took down Central Coast Section Division 1 champion Los Gatos 45-42.

Fourth quarter:
1:03: Minyard finds Owen Panu for a touchdown, and the Cavaliers again recover the onside kick.
2:52: Minyard hits Max Thomas for a 25-yard touchdown, trimming the deficit to 45-35. But CVC recovers the onside kick attempt.
4:06: Central Valley Christian capitalizes, and Donelson runs for another touchdown. The PAT makes it a three-score game – 45-28.
6:50: Los Gatos fumbles a punt return and CVC takes over on Los Gatos' 24.
10:17: AJ Minyard uses his legs to bring Los Gatos back within 10 points.
Third quarter:
0:01: Kroeze finds Gunnar Piepgrass from 20 yards to put CVC up 38-21.
7:49: Los Gatos plants itself back in the game with a 27-yard touchdown from Boxer Kopcsak-Yeung.
10:02 Central Valley Christian only needed one minute to put any thoughts of a Los Gatos comeback on hiatus. Donelson runs 70 yards for a touchdown to up the lead to 31-14.
11:02: Jaylen Thomas takes a pass from AJ Minyard 62 yards to the house to bring Los Gatos to within 10 points.
Second quarter:
0:06: Kroeze finds Ryan Lewis in the corner of the end zone to extend Central Valley Christian's lead to 24-7.
5:02: Jaylen Thomas runs for a touchdown from 36 yards to get Los Gatos on the board. Wildcats trail 17-7.
6:31: Brent Kroeze and Donelson connect for a 62-yard bomb, putting CVC up 17-0.
10:52: Cavaliers extend lead to 10-0 on touchdown run from Bryson Donelson.
First quarter:
8:16: Central Valley Christian scores on a 30-yard field goal and leads 3-0.
