It was a game that had high drama, multiple big plays and that lived up to all the large billing.

In the end, Marin Catholic's got 173 yards rushing and two touchdowns — along with two interceptions — by highly-touted two-way star Charles Williams and three total touchdowns from senior quarterback Peter Macaulay in a thrilling 35-28 win over visiting McClymonds in the CIF Northern California Regional Division 3-A Bowl championship on a soggy Saturday afternoon.

It was the fourth regional title for Marin Catholic (13-1) which goes for its second state title next week versus Mayfair (11-3) at El Camino College in Torrance.

LIVE UPDATE RECAP | MARIN CATHOLIC 35, MCCLYMONDS 28

McClymonds, playing from behind the entire way, show a ton of grit and tenacity while playing for head coach Michael Peters, who announced before the season this would be his last.

An assistant coach for 20 years, the McClymonds graduate and father of NFL cornerback Marcus Peters, reluctantly took over the head duties in 2013 and led the Warriors on a remarkable decade-plus run. He finished with 121 victories against 16 defeats with four state, six regional and 11 league championships.

He was much more to the Warriors than holding up trophies. A second father figure to many of his players, Peters simply told his players that he loved them in his final postgame speech. McClymonds finished 8-3 on the season. They got a 53-yard scoop and score by JaJuan Hudson, a 65-yard touchdown sprint by Ta'Jir Golden and two short TD runs by Redmani Albert.
