Southern California regional bowl games: 20 recruits to watch

Granite Hills will put their 21-game winning streak on the line against Mission Viejo

The CIF State regional bowl games will take place on Friday and Saturday, leading into next week's state championships.

Ahead of this weekend's games, here's a look at 20 of the top recruits in Southern California that will be looking to reach the state championships.

D1-AA— Granite Hills at Mission Viejo

Mark Schroller, 2024 OL, Mission Viejo

Schroller helped protect for a balanced offense that surpassed 5,700 yards through their first 14 games. He committed to UCLA in April after picking up 20 scholarship offers.

Treyvon Tolmaire, 2024 DB, Mission Viejo

A three-year varsity player, Tolmaire has totaled 64 tackles and five interceptions this season. He committed to Boise State in June, choosing the Broncos over UNLV and Dartmouth.

Travis Anderson, 2024 DB, Mission Viejo

Anderson was among the leaders in California last season with nine interceptions. The Boise State commit has followed it up with 81 tackles, five interceptions and two sacks as a senior.

Dijon Lee, 2025 DB/WR, Mission Viejo

Lee is the top-ranked 2025 recruit in California according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He's made 70 tackles and grabbed three interceptions over the past two seasons.

Phillip Bell, 2025 WR/DB, Mission Viejo

Bell has contributed on both sides of the ball in his first season after transferring in from Sacramento-Christian Brothers. A recipient of more than 35 scholarship offers from the likes of Alabama, Georgia and Michigan, Bell has 500 receiving yards and five touchdowns this year.

Damarrion White, 2024 DL, Granite Hills

White has been a big difference-maker for the Eagles during their 21-game winning streak. He's totaled 9.5 sacks the last two seasons and has Oregon State and Fresno State among his top schools.

Nokoi Maddox, 2024 DB, Granite Hills

Maddox has three interceptions in each of the last two seasons and has totaled 143 tackles in that time. His most recent offers have come from San Diego State, San Jose State and Colorado State.

D1-A— St. Bonaventure vs. St. Augustine

Anthony Wolter, 2024 QB, St. Bonaventure

Wolter has completed 68 percent of his passes this season, tossing 14 touchdown passes. He committed to Nevada two weeks ago.

Drew Cofield, 2025 DB/WR, St. Bonaventure

Cofield has five interceptions this year after grabbing four a season ago. His five offers have come from Arizona, BYU, Colorado State, Washington and San Jose State.

Brady Palmer, 2026 QB, St. Augustine

Palmer has tossed 34 touchdown passes and has rushed for nearly 600 yards in his first two seasons as the varsity starter. His four offers have come from San Diego State, Arizona, Colorado State and Washington State.

Honor Fa’alave-Johnson, 2027 DB/WR/RB, St. Augustine

Fa'alave-Johnson has 11 total touchdowns as a freshman, averaging more than 11 yards per rush. USC was the first to offer him a scholarship.

D2-AA— Orange Vista vs. La Serna

Sire Gaines, 2024 RB/WR/DB, Orange Vista

Gaines is closing in on 5,000 total yards now in his third varsity season. The Arizona State commit has rushed for 1,565 yards and 25 touchdowns this season, averaging over nine yards per carry for the second straight season.

Owen Long, 2024 RB/LB, La Serna

Long has rushed for 1,367 yards and 24 touchdowns this season, averaging over 10 yards per carry. The Idaho commit enters this week having rushed for over 130 yards three weeks in a row while also totaling 110 tackles on the year.

D2-A— Simi Valley at Central Valley Christian

Bryson Donelson, 2024 RB, Central Valley Christian

Donelson has rushed for 2,737 yards this season and has 512 receiving yards, finding the end zone 50 times. He committed to Fresno State in October, choosing the Bulldogs over Boise State and Boston College.

D3-AA— Birmingham at Del Norte

Peyton Waters, 2024 WR, Birmingham

Water has posted nearly identical receiving numbers for the second straight season, catching 64 passes for 1,042 yards and 14 touchdowns through 13 games. He's committed to Washington.

Trey Coleman, 2024 K, Del Norte

Coleman has made 17 of 23 field goals this season with a long of 54 yards and has made all 45 of his PATs over the past three seasons. He's committed to Utah.

Ty Olsen, 2025 WR, Del Norte

Olsen has more than 3,200 receiving yards and 39 touchdown receptions during his three varsity seasons. His first offer arrived from Colorado State.

D3-A— Mount Miguel vs. Mayfair

Parris Vernon, 2026 DB/WR, Mount Miguel

Vernon has 11 touchdown receptions, five rushing touchdowns and has totaled 946 yards in eight games this season. Colorado State and San Jose State are the first two schools to extend offers.

D5-A— La Jolla Country Day at Banning (Wilmington)

Jaden Mangini, 2024 QB/LB, La Jolla Country Day 

Mangini put on a show with six touchdown passes and four rushing touchdowns in the San Diego Section Division 3 championship game. The Navy commit now has 31 touchdown passes and 20 rushing touchdowns on the season.

D6-A— St. Monica at Sweetwater

Elijah Wilson, 2027 RB, St. Monica

Wilson has put together a huge freshman season, rushing for 1,344 yards and 13 touchdowns in 10 games. Arizona is the first school to extend Wilson a scholarship offer.
