Vincent Memorial's Jacobo Elias is SBLive Southern California Athlete of the Week (11/06/2023)

Versatile dual threat quarterback accounts for more than 300 yards and five touchdowns in a 42-15 playoff win over Valhalla

It's considered small division football, but there's nothing Jacobo Elias does on the football field that is in small increments.

The 6-foot, 175-pound senior quarterback for San Diego Section small-school power Vincent Memorial (Calexico, Calif.) has piled up more than 10,000 career yards in his illustrious three-year career that has included more than 7,500 passing yards and more than 2,500 rushing yards. He's accounted for nearly 100 touchdowns.

On Nov. 3, in a SDS Division 5 quarterfinal win over Valhalla, Elias completed 15 of 25 passes for 239 yards and five touchdowns. He also rushed for 73 yards on just six carries.

Those big numbers put him on a SBLive Southern California top performance list, where he then put up even more massive numbers.

Elias piled up more than 7,200 votes — nearly 60 percent of the tallies — to win the SBLive Southern California Athlete of the Week honors for games completed Nov. 2-4.

Since then, his team, the Scots (9-3), moved into the section finals Friday when they'll play Sweetwater. After 11 games, Elias had thrown for nearly 2,300 yards and 25 touchdowns and run for 1,117 yards and nine more scores.
