Bronson Schmidt-Uili transfers to Notre Dame/Sherman Oaks; teams up with Bryce James

Bronson Schmidt-Uili will play with Bryce James in Los Angeles

High school basketball begins in less than a week, yet there's still transfer news to report.

Bronson Schmidt-Uili, a 6-foot-11 center, has completed a transfer from Oak Hill Academy (Va.) to Notre Dame/Sherman Oaks in Los Angeles, putting him with junior Bryce James (youngest son of LeBron James) and Houston-commit Mercy Miller.

Schmidt-Uili has been on Notre Dame's campus this week and in practice the last three days.

Schmidt-Uili (class of 2024) is a New Zealand youth national team member with offers to Cal and Texas Tech, according to 247Sports.com.

Although it's not entirely clear, Schmidt-Uili's eligibility seems imminent after moving in from out of state, however, he has not been cleared to play in games, according to the CIF Southern Section website.

Notre Dame's season opener is at home on November 13 against Palisades High.

The addition bolsters an already-talented roster that is ranked in the top 10 of the SBLive CIF Southern Section Top 25 preseason rankings. Schmidt-Uili also adds to the talent pool in the Mission League, which is pegged to be the most competitive boys basketball league in California with Harvard-Westlake, Sierra Canyon, St. Francis, Crespi, Loyola, Alemany and Chaminade.

Harvard-Westlake is the defending CIF State Open Division champion.

Notre Dame is the defending CIF State Division I champion, but graduated Caleb Foster (Duke) and Dusty Stromer (Gonzaga), however, the Knights return junior Lino Mark and sophomore Zach White, along with Miller and James.

James will serve a sit-out period after transferring to Sierra Canyon and be eligible to play December 24.
