Orange Vista's Greg Zomalt voted SBLive's California Football Coach of the Week by fans (11/8/2023)

The Coyotes outdueled Rancho Verde on Oct. 27 for their second straight undisputed Ivy League title

With a 35-27 win over Rancho Verde to end the 2023 regular season, Orange Vista has now won league titles in three of the last six seasons – not including the COVID-shortened 2020-21 campaign, when it didn't compete in a league race.

Three league titles in six seasons? Not bad at all.

But it's a lot more impressive when you consider the fact that those are the only full seasons in the history of Orange Vista football.

Orange Vista High School opened in 2016, and started with a freshman and junior varsity team before debuting a varsity team in 2017. After going 3-7 in its inaugural season, Orange Vista has compiled a 41-16 record from 2018 onward.

And Greg Zomalt, the program's founding head coach, has been at the helm every step.

For Orange Vista's conference-clinching win over Rancho Verde, Zomalt is SBLive's California Football Coach of the Week for Week 10.

Zomalt earned 85.2-percent of the vote for the Coyotes' win that, as usual, was headlined by an amazing Sire Gaines stat line. The Arizona State-bound ATH prospect totaled 167 yards of offense, three rushing touchdowns, three tackles for loss, an interception, and a 30-yard fumble recovery.

Orange Vista followed up its biggest win of the regular season by starting the postseason in style. The Coyotes won 21-7 against Eisenhower in the CIF Southern Section Division 5 playoffs, and take on San Jacinto on Friday.
