Spartans finish regular season on eight-game win streak after highest output of the season in contest played with running clock the final 21 minutes, 40 seconds

It appeared with Clayton Valley Charter on a 3-game win streak, including an impressive big win over California-San Ramon last week, the Eagles might give host De La Salle-Concord a tussle.

Not a chance.

The Spartans (8-2) won their eighth straight game and scored a season high in points by the middle of the second quarter in a 48-0 victory.

When senior reserve Alex LeCoque scored on a 3-yard run with 9:20 left in the third quarter, the game went to a running clock. There were only three more possessions and De La Salle had extended its unbeaten streak against North Coast Section opponents to 269 games (268-0-1).

Clayton Valley finished 5-5.

De La Salle junior quarterback Toa Faavae accounted for three touchdowns and Dominic Kelley added two rushings touchdowns in the first seven minutes. Faavae, who threw for two touchdowns, led the Spartans with 78 yards rushing on five carries.

The Spartans' defense, their strength all season, registered their second shutout of the season, while allowing 169 total yards, more than 70 of it on Clayton Valley's final drive.
