CIF-LA City Section 2023 football playoff brackets: Scores, matchups, game times — Birmingham is Open Division No. 1 seed

The three-time defending Open Division champion is the No. 1 seed and will play Narbonne on Nov. 9

Birmingham is the team to beat yet again.

The Patriots (8-2) received the No. 1 seed in the City Section Open Division football playoffs and will take on No. 8 Narbonne (4-6) on Nov. 9.

The Open Division field is made up of eight teams. Here are the other matchups.

  • No. 2 Garfield  (9-1) vs. No. 7 San Pedro (5-4)
  • No. 3 Gardena (9-1) vs. No. 6 Palisades (7-2)
  • No. 5 Granada Hills (7-2-1) vs. No. 4 Carson (9-1)

The top seeded teams will host first-round games. 

Banning received the No. 1 seed in Division I. Other top seeds: Arleta (Division 2), Bell (D3) and Fulton (8-person). 

Other defending champions are Granada Hills Charter (D1), Kennedy (D2), Crenshaw (D3) and Fulton (8-person).  

The LA City Section champions (other than 8-person) advance to the CIF State Southern Regional championships on Dec. 1-2. 

State championships — winners of the regional finals — take place Dec. 8-9 at three different venues: Pasadena College, El Camino College-Torrance and Saddleback College-Mission Viejo.
