Look: Images of Serra's 53-7 home win over Riordan
SAN MATEO, CALIFORNIA — It was a scenic and perfect-weathered California day Saturday at Brady Family Stadium on the campus of Serra High School.
For Riordan fans, they largely had to look away.
The Crusaders (6-2), a vastly talented team but with only two seniors among its starters, didn't play poorly. They just were up against one of the state's best teams.
From Serra's opening possession, a 6-play, 54-yard drive all on the ground, capped by a 4-yard touchdown run by Jaden Green, the Padres dominated in a 53-7 West Catholic Athletic League victory.
The Padres, ranked third in the state by SBLive Sports, the two-time defending Central Coast Section Division I champion and two-time Northern California Open Division representative, improved to 8-0 and 5-0 in WCAL action.
Riordan, dropped to 6-2 and 4-1. This all but sewed up the WCAL championship for the Padres who piled up close to 400 yards while giving up 150.
