Mater Dei, St. John Bosco set for another Titanic matchup after lopsided wins
Here they go again.
The two super powers from Southern California — Mater Dei and St. John Bosco — are on another freight train collision course after lopsided wins Friday night in Trinity League play.
Stanford-bound Elijah Brown threw four touchdown passes and 4-star running backs Nate Frazier (57 yards) — a Georgia commit — and Jordon Davison (20 yards) rushed for touchdowns, leading Mater Dei to a 42-0 win over JSerra Catholic.
The Monarchs (7-0, 2-0 Trinity League) are ranked No. 1 in the SBLive/Sports Illustrated national rankings.

St John Bosco (6-1, 2-0), ranked seventh in the country, defeated visiting Servite, 56-27 on Friday. Caleb Sanchez threw four touchdowns passes in the first half and UCLA-bound running back Cam Jones added two touchdown runs to go up 42-8 at the break.
Sanchez added a fifth TD pass in the second half, a 35-yarder to Owen Tomich, to go along with scoring strikes to Stacy Dobbins (68 and 11 yards), Madden Williams (58 yards) and Daniel Odom (31 yards). Jones had TD runs of 20 and 8 yards.
The two national juggernauts play Oct. 13 at St. John Bosco.
Since 2004, the teams have met 24 times, with Mater Dei winning 14. The Monarchs had won three straight, including 17-7 in the regular season last season, before Bosco got ultimate payback with a 24-22 in the 2022 Southern Section Division 1 championship.

Bosco had won six straight in the series from 2011 to 2015, when Mater Dei won eight of the next 12. Last season's Braves' victory in the Southern Section broke a 29-game win streak for the Monarchs and Brown as the team's starting quarterback.
On Thursday, Elijah Brown told SBLive's Myckena Guerrero that he's more than looking forward to Friday's game at Bosco. The game should feature upwards of 60 Division I football prospects.
"Bosco is always great opponent to go against," he said after a Thursday walk through. "They’re always tough. I feel like I play my best against great competition so that’s what I’m looking forward to."
Bosco 4-star linebacker and Notre Dame commit Kyngstonn Villamu-Asa told Guerrero Thursday that the Mater Dei games is circled every year.
"It’s obviously a big game," he said. "There’s lots of hype around it. I look forward to getting on the field against a lot of guys I grew up with and being able to compete at the highest level against great players and just having fun."
