Robert Frith, San Juan Hills: Frith, who's in his sixth year as San Juan Hills' head coach, has the Stallions off to a 7-0 start for the first time in his tenure following a 0-7 start to 2022. They rode a 17-0 start to outduel Tesoro 27-24 last week in their non-league finale.

Chris Bean, Twelve Bridges: Twelve Bridges went 7-5 in 2022, which was its first ever football season. In 2023, the Rhinos again have seven wins, and they haven't lost a game yet. Nathan Crawford led the way with 203 yards and three touchdowns rushing as Twelve Bridges routed Center 36-7, which was previously 5-1.

Gary Parks, Dr. Maya Angelou Community: 11 years after the founding of their football program, the Phoenix are in the midst of their first-ever winning season and strongest overall campaign yet. Angelou started its Southern League title defense with a 55-16 rout of Diego Rivera, moving to 7-0.

Reid Sanders, Rio Americano: After inheriting a 1-8 team and going 3-7 in his first year as head coach, Sanders has the Raiders at 6-0 and counting in year two. Keilen Gilbert tossed four touchdowns last week as Rio Americano blew out El Camino (Sacramento) 42-0.

Ryan Huisenga, Moorpark: Huisenga is nominated for the second week in a row after his Musketeers came back from a 28-7 hole to beat Newbury Park 35-28 in the last nine minutes of the game. Moorpark is 6-0 and arguably the team to beat in the Canyon League with the win.

Dustin Croick, Agoura: Like Moorpark, Agoura also became 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the Canyon League last week. Harrison Novak completed 12 of 13 passes for 337 yards and four touchdowns, and also ran for a touchdown as Agoura rolled over Oak Park 46-19. The Chargers, coming off a 1-9 season, now have their highest-ranked squad of Croick's four-year tenure. The two teams meet in Week Ten (Oct. 27).

Dominic DiMare, San Marin: For the second time in DiMare's six seasons as head coach, San Marin is 5-0 following a 56-0 thrashing of San Rafael. The last time San Marin started 5-0 was two years ago – when it went 14-1 and won a CIF State 5-AA title.

Allen Talley, Redwood: Redwood started MCAL play with a bang, trouncing Terra Linda to move to 5-0 for the first time in Talley's nine seasons as head coach. Redwood has its work cut out for itself next week – it travels to San Marin in a battle of unbeatens.

Marcel Perez, Northview: Northview moved to 6-0 against in-state competition and 6-1 overall with a 14-13 victory against Bonita. Running back/outside linebacker Angel Barraza ran for 74 yards and a touchdown, and led Northview with nine tackles (tied) and a tackle for loss. The win cemented the Vikings as the top-ranked public school team in the San Gabriel Valley entering league play.

Robin Morris, Alameda: With a 47-0 stomping of San Lorenzo, Alameda is 5-0 for the first time in Morris' four years at the helm. Alameda has outscored opponents 182-16 so far this season.

Nick Barnett, Del Norte (San Diego): In a battle between two teams head coached by former NFL players, Del Norte opened Palomar League play by outlasting Rancho Bernardo 49-43 in a quadruple-overtime thriller. Del Norte moved to 5-1 in its first season under Barnett, a former Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion with the Green Bay Packers.

Paul Doherty, Folsom: The Bulldogs' pursuit of their fourth Sierra Foothill League title in Doherty's five seasons at the helm is off to a good start following a 42-21 victory against Oak Ridge. Ryder Lions threw three touchdown passes to Brian Ray III and for 379 yards total.

Stephon Pace, Tahquitz: After a 48-0 demolition of Perris to open league play, Tahquitz is off to 6-0 start for the second time and has its highest-ranked team in Pace's six seasons as head coach.
