Matchups announced for 26th Annual MLK Classic basketball event hosted by De La Salle Athletics

The daylong showcase features eight games over two sessions at De La Salle High School in Concord

The teams and matchups for the annual MLK Classic hosted by De La Salle High School are set.

The basketball event, which is in its 26th year, is scheduled for Monday, January 15 in Concord (Calif.). The event is presented by SBLive Sports and sponsored by Acrisure.

There is a field of 16 boys teams and eight games over two sessions. Games will be played at the school's gymnasium on campus.

The daylong event tips off at 8:45 a.m. with Moreau Catholic versus Redwood and ends with Bishop O'Dowd facing Capital Christian of Sacramento at 8 p.m.

Host De La Salle will square off with Crean Lutheran of Southern California in a 3:30 p.m. matchup that tips off session two.

The Spartans, who upset then nationally-ranked West Linn of Oregon in last year's MLK Classic, are led by junior guard Alec Blair. 

Notre Dame Prep of Scottsdale (Ariz.), which is the only out-of-state team among the field, finished 23-6 last season while reaching the AIA Open Division quarterfinals. The Saints feature several top scorers including 6-4 incoming senior Anthony Batson Jr. (18.7 points per game), 6-foot junior Brennan Peterson (17.0) and 6-3 junior Bryce Quinet (16.1). 

Notre Dame Prep will play against Modesto Christian at 11:45 a.m.

St. Joseph of Santa Maria is led by one of the nation’s top players, Tounde Yessoufou. The 6-5 power forward is a 5-star recruit according to 247Sports Composite and the No. 14 overall player nationally from the Class of 2025 

The Knights and Yessoufou face Branson at 5 p.m.
