Vista Murrieta's Coley Candaele voted SBLive's California Football Coach of the Week by fans (9/27/2023)

The Broncos are off to a strong start in their first-ever coach's return to the helm

Back like he never left.

20 years after founding Vista Murrieta's football program, quickly leading it to tremendous heights, and taking seven years away from the position, Coley Candaele is once again at the helm for the Broncos.

And he's been voted SBLive's California Football Coach of the Week for guiding his team to a 4-0 start with a 30-13 win over Temecula Valley on Sept. 15.

Candaele won by a landslide, garnering 93.06-percent of the votes.

Vista Murrieta would see its first loss of the year the following week, but not before giving state-ranked Rancho Cucamonga a good game in a 34-24 defeat. The result was a stark contrast from when the teams met in 2022 and Rancho Cucamonga led 32-0 after three quarters in a lopsided affair.

Per Eric-Paul Johnson of IE Varsity, Vista Murrieta went 132-25, won nine Southwestern League titles, and won a CIFSS title in Candaele's initial stint (2003-2015).

As they say: "Broncos Country, let's ride."
