Jesuit routs Christian Brothers in 52nd Holy Bowl before more than 15,000 fans in Sacramento
For the 17th time in the last 20 meetings, Jesuit-Carmichael came out on top Saturday in the Sacramento area jewel, "The Holy Bowl."
In the 52nd meeting between the schools, big plays were the norm for the Marauders who rolled to a 41-8 victory over Christian Brothers.
As usual, more than 15,000 fans clad in bright Jesuit red or deep Christian Brothers blue at Hughes Stadium on the campus of Sacramento City College.
CJ Lee got things rolling with a 68-yard pass to Caleb Dixon to give Jesuit a 7-0 lead and Lee followed up with a 44-yard run, making it 14-0.
It was 21-0 by the end of the first quarter on a Drew Vassar 7-yard run and when Vassar broke loose on a 32-yard TD jaunt it was 27-0 heading into halftime.
The Marauders didn't let up as Dixon took the second half kickoff 99 yards to make it 34-0 and another long TD run, this one 32 yards by Johnnie Brannon made it 41-0.
Christian Brothers broke up the shutout on a 26-yard pass from Shawn Underwood to Adrian Davis.
Jesuit improved to 2-1, while Christian Brothers dropped to 2-2. Jesuit plays at Sheldon next week, while Christian Brothers plays at Del Campo.
