Los Gatos senior Nicolas Ramos is SBLive's Northern California Athlete of the Week (Oct. 20-22)

Linebacker puts up more huge numbers on the field and even bigger totals on the voting front to earn the weekly award

Nicolas Ramos has been a mainstay in the Los Gatos football program for a long time.

The 6-foot, 205-pound 2-star linebacker has been a standout for four season, starting on the freshmen and junior varsity teams before taking over a varsity starting position as a junior.

He's now a dominating player on the Wildcats' dominating defense, which has allowed just 65 points in nine games. Los Gatos is 7-2.

On Oct. 21, in a huge 28-7 win over then Central Coast Section's No. 2 team Wilcox-Santa Clara, Ramos had 16 tackles, two sacks and three quarterback hurries.

That put him on the SBLive Northern California performance list, then he went out to accumulate more big numbers on the voting front to earn him the SBLive Northern California Athlete of the Week for games plays Oct. 20-22.

Ramos captured more than 50 percent of the vote between almost 40 nominees. He picked up 13,200 votes compared to 7,833 for runner-up Gavin Jensen, a defensive back from Kingsburg who intercepted three passes, returning one for a touchdown in a 34-0 win over Reedley.
