Highlights: Carlsbad shuts out La Costa Canyon, wins fourth straight league championship

Carlsbad retained the rotary cup by beating La Costa Canyon for the fifth consecutive time.

CARLSBAD, Calif. -- Carlsbad made plays on every side of the ball Friday night. They had four rushing touchdowns, a blocked field goal return for a touchdown, three interceptions and five sacks. The Lancers started fast, scoring three times in the first quarter and twice more in the second quarter to cruise past La Costa Canyon, 35-0.

The win gave Carlsbad their fourth consecutive Avocado League championship while extending their winning streak in league play to 24 games.
