SBLive’s LA City Section Baseball Top 10: San Pedro moves up to No. 5

The Pirates have won four games in a row and begin a two game series against Narbonne this week.

SBLive’s LA City Section high school baseball rankings are compiled by SBLive reporter Connor Morrissette and are released weekly throughout the season.


April 25, 2022

1. Granada Hills (19-4-1)

Last week: 1

Granada Hills swept Taft and took down West Ranch 11-10 in eight innings last week. 

2. Birmingham (15-8)

Last week: 2

The Patriots split their two game series against No. 3 El Camino Real last week. 

3. El Camino Real (15-9)

Last week: 3

ECR pitcher Oscar Lopez threw a shutout in the Royals 2-0 win over No. 2 Birmingham last week. Birmingham won game one of the series 7-1. 

4. Roosevelt (16-6)

Last week: 4

Roosevelt split its series with Garfield last week. When Lino Zepeda is pitching, the Roughriders can beat anyone. 

5. San Pedro (14-7)

Last week: 6

The Pirates have won four games in a row and begin a two game series against Narbonne this week. 

6. Chatsworth (10-11)

Last week: 5

Chatsworth split its series with No. 10 Cleveland last week. In game two, the Chancellors won 12-2. Jose Ruedas threw five innings to earn the win. 

7. Palisades (16-6-1)

Last week: 7

Palisades swept Hamilton last week. 

8. Sylmar (13-6-1)

Last week: 8

Sylmar took down Taft 1-0 (nine innings) and North Hollywood 5-1 two weeks ago. Frank Garcia threw eight innings and had ten strikeouts in the win over Taft. Matt Benzor got the win and Favian Pinon had the game-winning RBI.

9. Poly (16-7)

Last week: 9

Poly has won its last three games by a combined 31-2 scoreline. 

10. Cleveland (11-9)

Last week: 10

Cleveland split its series with No. 6 Chatsworth last week. In Cleveland's 9-2 game one win, Braden Lowe threw five scoreless innings. Lowe's arm gives Cleveland a chance to beat anyone in the City but the depth on the mound behind him is limited.
