Here are SBLive’s fourth Top 10 LA City Section high school baseball rankings of the season. The rankings are compiled by SBLive California reporter Connor Morrissette and are released weekly.


March 14, 2021

1. Birmingham (7-2)

Last week: 1

The Patriots have been competitive in all nine of their games this season, losing only to Agoura 2-1 and Thousand Oaks 6-5. Birmingham's best win came against Hart 6-5 on Feb. 25. 

2. Granada Hills (7-1-1)

Last week: 2

Brandon Garfinkel got out of a no-outs bases loaded jam in the 10th inning of Granada Hills' 3-2 win over Crescenta Valley on Saturday. The Highlanders have the pitching to compete with anyone.  

3. Cleveland (6-3)

Last week: 3

Cleveland has won five games in a row. Their best win in that span came against No. 5 Roosevelt, 10-0, on Feb. 28. Braden Lowe struck out seven in five innings for the Cavs in the win.

4. El Camino Real (5-4)

Last week: 4

ECR beat No. 5 Roosevelt 3-2 on Friday, cementing the Royals' spot at No. 4 in the rankings. 

5. Roosevelt (7-3)

Last week: 5

Four weeks into the season, Roosevelt still looks like the top non-West Valley League team in the City, but Sylmar and Palisades are both still in the mix.  

6. Sylmar (3-3-1)

Last week: 6

Sylmar picked up a marquee 5-4 win over No. 7 Chatsworth two weeks ago. Senior pitcher Frank Garcia allowed four runs but struck out eight in the Spartans' win. Last week, Sylmar fell to No. 1 Birmingham 10-1. 

7. Chatsworth (6-4)

Last week: 7

Chatsworth took down El Segundo 3-2 last week. The Chancellors have beaten No. 8 Palisades this season and lost to No. 6 Sylmar. 

8. Palisades (3-1-1)

Last week: 8

Palisades routed Banning 12-0 last week. 

9. San Pedro (3-5)

Last week: 9

The Pirates thumped Venice 12-0 on Friday but then received a thumping of their own losing 12-2 to No. 5 Roosevelt on Saturday. 

10. Hamilton (7-3)

Last week: 10

Hamilton is 5-0 against LA City Section teams this season. The Yankees' best win came against Taft 8-7 on March 2nd. Last week, Hamilton lost an 8-7 heartbreaker to Santa Monica in nine innings.
