Salesian rolls to 62-51 win over Windward in CIF State Division I girls basketball championship

Via Fonongaloa was dominant inside, scoring 18 points and grabbing 11 rebounds

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Via Fonongaloa racked up 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead Salesian College Prep to a 62-51 win over Windward in the CIF State Division I girls basketball state championship on Friday night at the Golden 1 Center.

Fonongaloa was dominant inside, shooting 8-of-14 from the field. Nevaeh Asiasi added 11 points, 7 rebounds and a game-high 5 assists for Salesian. Makiah Asidanya chipped in with 11 points.

The Pride led 24-21 at halftime before effectively putting the game on ice early in the fourth quarter. They led 46-36 after three quarters and opened up a 15-point lead early in the fourth. 

Windward continued to fight back and was able to briefly cut the lead to single digits before the game was over, but Salesian never relinquished command of the game.

Windward's Skye Belker led all scorers with 21 points on 9-of-18 shooting. She also pulled down eight rebounds. Maya Stokes added 15 points for the Wildcats.
