With the 2021 California high school baseball season on the horizon we're taking a look at the top players in the state.

Here are the Top 5 baseball players in the Bay Area.

TOP 5 BASEBALL PLAYERS IN BAY AREA

No. 5: Trevor Haskins, Valley Christian

➡️ HEIGHT: 6-0

➡️ WEIGHT: 170

➡️ POSITION: SS/UTILITY

➡️ CLASS: 2021

➡️ OFFERS: STANFORD (SIGNED)

An outstanding, slick-fielding middle infielder, Haskins is light on his feet and has shown he can play both middle infield positions equally well. A right-handed hitter, Haskins makes good contact and is expected to add some power as he gains some bulk. An outstanding student, Haskins has committed to Stanford University.

No. 4: Blake Burke, De La Salle

➡️ HEIGHT: 6-3

➡️ WEIGHT: 235

➡️ POSITION: 1B

➡️ CLASS: 2021

➡️ OFFERS: TENNESSEE (SIGNED)

Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 235 pounds, Burke is extra big and exceptionally strong. He bats from a slightly open stance in order to use his lower body to generate power. Due to his size, he is an aggressive hitter who swings with power. He has the hand skills to adjust mid-swing and projects to be an impact player at the collegiate level. Blake doesn’t like to be labeled a power hitter; he prides himself on being an all-around hitter. He has signed to play at Tennessee next season. Burke was very busy this past summer traveling from one showcase to another. Watch our feature story on Blake:

No. 3: Tommy Splaine, Los Gatos

➡️ HEIGHT: 6-5

➡️ WEIGHT: 205

➡️ POSITION: C/RHP

➡️ CLASS: 2021

➡️ OFFERS: ARIZONA (COMMITTED)

Splaine, the top player in the Central Coast Section, is the very rare catcher/pitcher combination. He will have to make a decision at some point but right now he is outstanding in both spots. Big and strong, Splaine is a power hitter who also hits for average. He is getting a lot of attention from Major League Baseball scouts right now. He has committed to playing college ball at Arizona.

No. 2: Davis Diaz, Acalanes

➡️ HEIGHT: 5-11

➡️ WEIGHT: 175

➡️ POSITION: SS

➡️ CLASS: 2021

➡️ OFFERS: VANDERBILT (COMMITTED)

"Well-rounded" is the first things that comes to mind when describing Diaz's game. Playing shortstop, Diaz will take his skills to Vanderbilt, a school that is known for its depth of baseball talent. He could be considered a "sum-of-the-parts" player since he seems to be in all the right spots to make the play. He has some of the surest hands of any shortstop in the class of 2021. Davis was off to a great start last season in his junior year for the Dons hitting .417 with five hits and 2 RBI in four games batting cleanup at Acalanes.

No. 1: Tyree Reed, American Canyon

➡️ HEIGHT: 6-3

➡️ WEIGHT: 200

➡️ POSITION: OF

➡️ CLASS: 2021

➡️ OFFERS: OREGON STATE (SIGNED)

Reed has an athletic frame with square shoulders which allows him to be a powerful player. Known for his speed, he boasts a 6.69 60-yard dash. As an outfielder, he has supreme arm strength and good footwork. As a hitter, he has quick hands and a fast path to the ball. Overall, he is far and away the best player in Northern California and projects very well at the next level. Reed is committed to Oregon State, but will likely go high in the 2021 MLB Draft. This is a five tool player with great speed who can bunt for a base hit or take it out of the park. Reed played in the Area Code games this past summer in Atlanta, impressing everyone along the way. He was off to a great start last season going 6-for-13 with a homer and three RBI before the COVID lockdown.
