San Diego Section boys basketball Top 10 rankings: St. Augustine No. 1 to start 2020
Here are Scorebook Live’s Top 10 rankings for San Diego Section high school boys basketball for the week of Jan. 6. Our San Diego Section basketball rankings are released weekly throughout the 2019-20 high school basketball season. The rankings are compiled by SB Live reporter Bodie DeSilva.
TOP 10 SAN DIEGO SECTION BOYS BASKETBALL RANKINGS
Week of Jan. 6, 2020
1. St. Augustine (15-3)
The Saints went 4-1 during the break with their only loss coming against eventual Holiday Classic Champion JSerra.
2. Foothills Christian (9-5)
The Knights won their league opener against Santa Fe Christian and beat Cathedral Catholic two weeks ago.
3. Cathedral Catholic (11-5)
Cathedral went 4-2 over the break and beat Fairmont Prep at Real Run this weekend.
4. Torrey Pines (12-4)
The Falcons lost to St. Augustine and Cathedral Catholic but finished up the break with a big win over Bishop O’Dowd.
5. Mater Dei Catholic (11-3)
Mater Dei went 2-2 against out of section competition over the holiday break.
6. Poway (13-4)
The Titans went 4-2 during the break. Poway was missing three of their top seven players in their overtime loss to Christian.
7. Santa Fe Christian (11-5)
The Eagles have lost five of their last eight games as the difficulty in schedule has picked up.
8. San Diego (10-4)
The Cavers were 5-2 during the break with both losses coming to strong out of section opponents.
9. San Ysidro (8-7)
The Cougars were 0-4 during the Holiday break. They’ll start league play on Wednesday and take on So Cal’s top team, Rancho Christian, on Friday.
10. San Marcos (10-3)
The Knights were 2-2 during their trip in
Hawaii and will take on Bonita Vista and Long Beach Millikan this week.
