We’re taking an inside look at the top teams, best players, emerging X-factors and projected finish for each Class 3A boys basketball league around the state of Washington.

Here is a look at the 3A teams in the Mid-Columbia Conference:

TOP TEAM

The Kamiakin Braves are young, long, athletic and run its offense through 6-foot-9 forward Kyson Rose, one of two seniors on the team. Rose, who has added a multitude of scoring moves, plays next to 6-6 junior Messiah Jones, and is surrounded by capable shooters.

PLAYER TO WATCH

Kennewick senior Ayoni Benavidez is the MCC’s leading scorer (26.4 points per game) and can do it in a lot of ways. The senior guard can take defenders off the dribble, shoot the 3-ball and when shots aren’t falling, get to the free throw line. 

KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR

Southridge’sTristan Smith, a 6-6 senior forward, is averaging more than 21 points per game. He opened the season posting 34 points and six blocks, and recently surpassed the 1,000 career points mark.
