Gonzaga Prep guard Liam Lloyd, an instrumental piece in the Bullpups' last two 4A state championship runs, announced his commitment to Grand Canyon University on Saturday.

Lloyd, a 6-foot-5 three-star sharpshooter, also sported offers from Air Force, Eastern Washington and Toledo.

Lloyd was a first team all-Greater Spokane League selection as a junior last season, averaging 16 points. His father, Tommy Lloyd, is an assistant men's basketball coach at Gonzaga University and former standout at Kelso High School.

Grand Canyon has a Division I program that made the jump from D-II in 2013, and competes in the Western Athletic Conference, where it finished third last season. The program won three NAIA championships in the 1970s and 80s.

It is the only active D-I team affiliated with a for-profit university, and has received acclaim for its raucous home game atmosphere.
