SBLive Power 25 national baseball rankings: No. 8 Sinton (Texas) off to fast start

Sinton extended its winning streak to 35 games after going 4-0 last week

The high school baseball season is underway across most of the country with many of the nation's top teams having played their first games of the 2023 season.

The SBLive Power 25 national high school baseball rankings include teams affiliated with the state high school athletic association in the state it resides in or those allowed to play affiliate high schools in their home state as well as some of the country's baseball academies.

The rankings are released weekly throughout the 2023 baseball season. Find the complete breakdown of the Week 1 SBLive Power 25 below.

1. Calvary Christian (Clearwater, Fla.) (3-0)

The Warriors outscored their three opponents 31-4 last week. NC State-signee Landen Maroudis struck out three batters in Thursday's game before launching two home runs in Saturday's win.

2. JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) (2-0)

The Lions won their two games in Arizona this past weekend by a combined score of 19-1. Oregon State-signee Trent Caraway hit two home runs in Saturday's victory.

3. IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) (2-0)

IMG began the season with consecutive shutouts. Seniors Cam Johnson and Jaewoo Cho each struck out 10 batters.

4. Marjory Stoneman Douglas (Parkland, Fla.) (3-0)

The Eagles outscored their three opponents 28-1 last week. South Florida commit Niko Benestad is 4-8 with two doubles in the early going of the season.

5. Jesuit (Tampa, Fla.) (3-0)

Jesuit picked up a major win on Saturday when they beat Parkview (Ga.) 7-3. Ole Miss-signee Wes Mendes drove in three runs for the Tigers.

6. Parkview (Lilburn, Ga.) (2-1)

The Panthers suffered their first setback of the season against No. 5 Jesuit (Fla.) on Saturday. Senior Ali Banks is off to a hot start with two doubles, a triple and a home run through three games.

7. St. Mary’s Prep (Orchard Lake, Mich.) (0-0)

The Eaglets will begin their season on March 27 against Howell (Mich.).

8. Sinton (Texas) (4-0)

Sinton won four games in three days this past week by a combined 26 runs. LSU-signee Blake Mitchell has two home runs and five walks to begin the season.

9. Archbishop Moeller (Cincinnati, Ohio) (0-0)

The Fighting Crusaders will begin their season on March 25 against Strongsville (Ohio).

10. Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, Nev.) (0-0)

The Gaels will begin their season by hosting Corona (Calif.) on March 8.

11. Villa Park (Calif.) (4-0)

The Spartans have 52 hits in their first four games including two home runs and three doubles from Texas A&M-signee Gavin Grahovac.

12. Jackson Prep (Jackson, Miss.) (4-0)

Jackson Prep dismantled four opponents last week by a combined 46 runs. Mississippi State-signee Rives Reynolds is hitting .727 with three home runs.

13. Barbe (Lake Charles, La.) (5-0)

The Buccaneers allowed just three total runs in their five wins last week. They recorded back-to-back 10-0 shutouts in Thursday's doubleheader against Benton and Airline.

14. St. Xavier (Louisville, Ky.) (0-0)

The Tigers will begin their season on March 14 against Lafayette (Ky.).

15. Houston County (Warner Robins, Ga.) (6-0)

Houston County has scored 69 runs in their first six games and posted two straight shutouts to finish last week.

16. Hebron (Carrollton, Texas) (3-0)

LSU-signee MJ Seo struck out six in his season debut for the Hawks. They won both games of Friday's doubleheader, holding Reedy and Lone Star to two runs each.

17. Sulphur (La.) (1-0)

Sulphur shutout Benton 10-0 on Thursday. They'll battle with No. 13 Barbe later in the season in Louisiana's 5A District 3.

18. Hagerty (Oviedo, Fla.) (2-0)

The Huskies scored 26 runs over their first two games last week. Sophomore Ryan Foscolo has three doubles and seven runs batted in so far.

19. Orange Lutheran (Orange, Calif.) (5-1-1)

The Lancers suffered their first setback of the season against Chaparral (Ariz.) on Saturday but have previously taken down No. 20 Hamilton and No. 21 Aquinas.

20. Hamilton (Chandler, Ariz.) (3-1)

The Huskies bounced back from their loss against No. 19 Orange Lutheran by beating El Dorado (Calif.) and Bishop Verot (Fla.) on consecutive days.

21. Aquinas (San Bernardino, Calif.) (3-1)

Aquinas beat Norco 2-0 in their only game last week. They begin Ambassador League play with a trip to Linfield Christian this week.

22. Pearland (Texas) (2-1)

The Oilers dropped their opener to George Ranch, 2-1, but have bounced back with dominant wins over Angleton and Aldine.

23. Doral Academy (Doral, Fla.) (2-1)

Doral Academy showcased their power with five home runs in their first two games of the season before dropping Friday's contest to Archbishop McCarthy 5-3. They have a big bounce back opportunity when they travel to No. 4 Stoneman Douglas on Tuesday.

24. Harvard-Westlake (Studio City, Calif.) (3-1)

The Wolverines dropped their opener to Foothill but have bounced back with three straight wins in the Southern Section. They'll begin Mission League play with three games against St. Francis this week.

25. Catholic (Baton Rouge, La.) (4-1)

The Bears have won three straight since losing to Sam Houston (La.) 6-1. Tulane-signee Alex Ainsworth has struck out 12 batters in 10.2 shutout innings this season.
