Little Rock Christian football coach Eric Cohu resigns to start consulting business

Cohu’s Warriors won a state title in 2018 and were runners-up this season

Little Rock Christian head football coach Eric Cohu confirmed to SBLive on Wednesday morning that he is resigning his post at the school.

“I’ve agreed with the Israel Football League to help them launch a 19U national team, and I am going to have to be back and forth a lot the next 16 months,” Cohu said. “I will be back and forth between Arkansas and there. I am also working for a couple schools throughout the country on a football consulting basis, too. I am basically moving toward self-employment to help build football wherever.”

Cohu was 73-16 in seven seasons at LRCA. The Warriors won the state championship in 2018 and made title-game appearances in 2019, 2020 and this year. LRCA fell to Greenwood in the 6A title game this month.

He leaves the program as the Warriors are moving to Class 7A thanks to the Arkansas Activities Association Competitive Equity Factor.

“I didn’t think I could be true to what Little Rock Christian needs and run a football consulting business,” he said.

In addition to his other projects, Cohu would like to push for an initiative to push more Arkansas school districts to include ninth-grade football with the high school programs. He made some waves this fall with a series of tweets that broached that subject.

“One of my goals here in Arkansas is to see ninth grade re-classified so our kids aren’t a year behind everywhere else in the South or the country,” he said. “I am going to be working on several projects.

Cohu, a Harding University alum, came to LRCA in 2017 with an impressive resume. He had stints at Madison Academy (Huntsville, Ala.) and Jackson Christian School in Jackson, Tenn. He was also an assistant at Liberty Chrisitan Academy in Lynchburg, Va.

In seven seasons at Madison Academy, he went 87-12 with three Class 3A state championships (2012, 2013, and 2014). He left that post to be an offensive coordinator and international ambassador for the IFL national team.
