Arkansas high school football playoffs: Little Rock Parkview rolls past Mills

The Patriots led 28-0 at halftime and cruised to the 35-6 win

LITTLE ROCK — Little Rock Parkview (12-0) claimed local bragging rights and advanced to the Class 5A semifinals with a 35-6 victory over Mills (9-3) at War Memorial Stadium.

Parkview will host either Camden Fairview for Batesville Southside in the Class 5A semifinals Friday.

The Patriots scored three touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 28-0 halftime lead. Cobey Davis scored on a 4-yard touchdown run with 8:41 left in the third quarter to put the Arkansas Activities Association’s mercy rule into effect, allowing Parkview head coach Brad Bolding to empty his bench. 

Eric McGehee (35 yards), Monterrio Elston (40 yards), Cody Davis (3 and 4 yards) and Jaden Ashford (13 yards) had rushing touchdowns for the Patriots. Mills’ touchdown came with 1:59 left when Achilles Ringo threw 9 yards to Akyell Madison.

The Patriots dominated the line of scrimmage, holding Mills to minus-29 yards rushing in the first half, including four sacks, getting three in a row in the middle of the second quarter.
