Jocelyn Chavez of Valley Vista voted the WaFd Bank Arizona Girls Basketball Athlete of the Week

Chavez received 62.55% of the vote, beating out Notre Dame Prep's Ayla Keefe, who finished second with 18.79%

Congratulations to Valley Vista’s Jocelyn Chavez for being voted SBLive’s WaFd Bank Arizona Girls Basketball Athlete of the Week for the week of Feb. 12-18. 

Chavez, a senior guard on the Valley Vista team, scored a game-high 29 points on 10-of-14 shooting with five rebounds and three assists for the Monsoon in a 69-58 victory over Salpointe Catholic.

Chavez received 62.55% of the vote, beating out Ayla Keefe, a freshman on the Notre Dame Prep team, who finished second with 18.79%. Trinity Jones, a junior on the Desert Vista team, was third with 13.10% and Teagan McIlroy, a junior on the Sunnyslope team, was fourth with 4.14%. There were more than 8,000 votes tallied this week.
