Arizona high school boys basketball computer rankings: Perry on top (1/10/2024)

Perry has played one of the toughest schedules in the state this season

With the holiday tournaments over and league play beginning around the state it's time to release SBLive's first computer rankings of the 2023-24 Arizona high school boys basketball season.

Perry (10-4) is the top-ranked team in our 6A computer rankings, followed by Boulder Creek, Cesar Chavez, Basha and O'Connor.

Notre Dame Prep (10-3) sits atop our 5A computer rankings, followed by Desert Mountain, McClintock, Ironwood and Arizona College Prep.

SBLive's computer rankings formula was created using its own linear algebra-based ranking algorithm inspired by the Colley Bias-Free Ranking Method. Colley’s Method was created by Wes Colley, Ph.D., an astrophysicist at the University of Alabama at Huntsville. He devised his algorithm in order to help address the subjectivity and controversy regarding BCS college football selections in the 1990s and early 2000s, using a method that used no subjective variables.
